KUA Number

What is Your KUA Number?

There is a very accurate formula in the compass school of Feng Shui called KUA number which calculates your lucky and unlucky directions. It is sometimes referred to as the “Natal Number,” your “lucky number” or “Gua” number. It is based on the birth date and the Chinese lunar year. The formula divides people into East or West groups, and is one of the most accurate compatibility formulas that I know. It provides four lucky directions as well as four unlucky directions.

Learn them and then apply them to your daily life. When sleeping, it is best to point your head towards your health direction; when sitting, face one of your lucky directions. It is recommended to commit your lucky directions to memory as after a while it will become second nature to you and the beneficial energy it attracts would nourish your chi before you realize it. Famous speaker, author, teacher and Feng Shui expert, Marie Diamond, states that by using Kua numbers, we can change our brain waves. She describes this method as being quantum level Feng Shui. By using one of our lucky directions, we have access to our alpha brain waves, the clearer voice of intuition. Being in an Alpha brain state represents being in an optimal condition to program the mind for success and heightened imagination, visualization, memory, learning and concentration.

It is not always possible to sit facing or pointing towards your best direction, but using any of the lucky directions is better than none. Pivoting your chair can also work when facing one of your best directions is not possible.

There are 9 numbers in the KUA number sequence; 1, 3, 4, 9 are East. 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 are West. You will find that a friendship or a relationship is the longest and has the best quality when you are both from the same group.

Let’s look at an example of how to use a KUA number (see charts below). Notice that on the birth date chart, the years do not start on January 1. The Chinese calendar is based on the beginning of the moon cycle, the start date also varies and changes from year to year.

For example: Jenny was born July 16, 1998. Looking for her birth date on the chart, it falls in the row of “Jan 28, 1998 to Feb 15, 1999″. Her KUA number on the chart is 4, found on the third column. That means she is an East group person, because she has ” E” as one of her best directions.

Her best directions are the East group of: South, North, South-East and East. Her best sleeping direction is the South-East. However, if she cannot use this arrangement, any of her best directions will do. Remember that when sleeping, the head should point to one of her best directions, not her feet.

The process is the same for a male, follow the male column for a number. Male and Female KUA numbers are seldom the same. Check the chart prior to moving heavy items and enjoy benefiting from the energies that are there to help you.
